Going for organic

Awhile back I posted about buying eggs and milk at Trader Joe's.  At that point we were buying regular dairy and egg products.  Since then, though, I had a conversation with a friend about organic, free range for these products.

Obviously, it's always the better route to go with organic, but I wasn't sure if I could justify the cost.  At this week's shopping trip I was going to buy a gallon of milk for $2.99, but instead went for a 1/2 gallon of organic milk for $3.69.  We don't go through a ton of milk so I though I might justify it and see how it goes.

So, here's to going organic on milk!  I'll let you know if I take the plunge with eggs and other dairy products!

Jamie, do some research and read reputable research and you'll find organic is just a marketing ploy. You are better off buying Trader Joe products, normal ones, as they buy from good companies and the products are safe. If you spend the extra money for 'organic' you are just paying for a label; not any more safe and in fact often times more risk exposure.

my mom only buys eggs (and dairy, i think) from TJ's - she swears by them and believes they make a difference - i always felt that our family doesn't consume enough to matter, but you've given me something to think about - i agree with the comment about Trader Joe products...it's true that the quality can't be beat on anything from TJ's (organic, or not!)

I should do more research to find out even more about organic. I try to go with the best information I know.

I think that it's most important that the milk come from cows not treated with RGH/rbst. Our children don't need growth hormones in their milk.
